Applies to: vehicles with plug-in hybrid drive
You can choose between one electric mode and two hybrid modes.
Press the button repeatedly until the desired mode appears on the instrument cluster/infotainment display.
You can change modes while the vehicle is stationary or moving. If the operating status of the vehicle does not permit a manual mode change, the last active mode will be selected.
The active mode is displayed the first time you press the button.
e-tron mode: EV – In EV mode, the vehicle is driven using electric power alone. The EV mode is active at the beginning of every journey, depending on the vehicle s operating mode. The LED in the button will light up Fig. 103►. At the same time the indicator lamp will appear in the instrument cluster. The combustion engine stays off as long as the conditions for electric driving are met link►.
e‑tron mode: Hybrid – The electric motor and the combustion engine work together efficiently in hybrid mode. High-voltage battery power is used whenever possible when this mode is selected. This mode is particularly suitable for long journeys.
e‑tron mode: Battery Hold – The electric motor and the combustion engine work together in Battery Hold mode so that the charge level of the high-voltage battery remains (as far as possible) the same.
Note
- (Applies to Battery Hold mode: ) Depending on how the vehicle is driven, the charge level of the high-voltage battery may nevertheless drop.
- Battery Hold mode is automatically selected if you move the selector lever to position S in EV mode.
- If the button Fig. 103► is pressed when the selector lever is in position S, the gearbox automatically selects the standard drive mode (D).
- Hybrid mode is selected automatically if you activate route guidance via the navigation system. This ensures that the charge level of the high-voltage battery is used as effectively as possible; however, you can select a different mode manually.
