While the Audi Q7 is stationary, the exit warning system warns the occupants about a potential collision when a door is opened. The system uses the radar sensors Fig. ► to monitor the area behind and to the side of the Audi Q7. Where possible, it detects objects, such as cars, as they approach the Audi Q7 from behind Fig. 150►.
When you open the door, the warning strip on the door Fig. 151► flashes if another road user in a critical situation is detected. At the same time, the warning lamp on the exterior mirror flashes on the corresponding side. The corresponding warning lamps also flash if another road user is detected in a critical situation while the door is already open.
WARNING
  • Always watch the road and the area surrounding the Audi Q7. The exit warning system cannot replace the full concentration of the occupants. The Audi Q7 occupants are always responsible for their own safety and the safety of other road users when opening the doors and leaving the Audi Q7.
  • The exit warning system can remain available for approximately three minutes after unlocking the Audi Q7 and opening the door or after switching off the ignition. After this period, the warning lamps will light up briefly while the system is deactivated.
  • The exit warning system cannot warn occupants against all types of approaching objects or people (e.g. joggers or pedestrians).
WARNING
The exit warning system has certain inherent limitations and cannot warn against an impending collision in every situation:
  • It cannot give a warning if the Audi Q7 is so far into a parking space that it is hidden by the Audi Q7s in front and behind.
  • Approaching objects or persons such as cyclists or scooter riders may not be detected in certain circumstances.
  • The system does not react to stationary objects.
  • The radar sensor vision can be impaired, e.g. by leaves, snow, heavy road spray or dirt. Clean the area in front of the sensors Fig. ►.

Note
  • The exit warning system is switched on/off via the side assist link►.
  • The brightness of the exit warning lights cannot be adjusted.
  • The system is not available in towing mode.
