Applies to vehicles: with removable towing bracket
Take off the cover cap and insert the key Fig. 1 -9- in the lock on the knob.
Unlock the ball joint by turning the key clockwise.
Pull out the knob in direction -a-, hold and turn in direction -b- as far as it will go.
Keep hold of the knob and pull the ball joint down out of the mounting fixture.
Release the knob. The spring mechanism will remain in the "ready" position WARNING!.
Press the cover cap onto the key.
Put away the ball joint attachment under the floor panel in the luggage compartment.
Replace the plug Fig. 2 -2- in the mounting fixture -1- WARNING!.
To replace the bumper cover, insert the rear retaining tabs at the top. Swivel the cover upwards and press the side retaining tabs into the bumper.
Turn the fasteners 90° until you feel them snap into place. Check that the cover is fitted correctly in the bumper.
To prevent it being lost, the key cannot be taken out of the lock once the ball joint has been removed.
- To avoid injury, keep your hands away from the knob when removing the ball joint from the mounting fixture.
- Make sure that the plug is properly engaged in the mounting fixture on the vehicle. Otherwise dirt may accumulate in the mounting fixture and the ball joint may fail to engage securely the next time it is used - this could cause an accident.
