Using the car telephone kit, you can connect your mobile phone to the
MMI system via two Bluetooth profiles, or you can insert your SIM card
into the SIM card reader or the handset*.
Bluetooth profiles (Car phone or Handsfree)
Bluetooth devices use profiles
to communicate with each other. When you bond a mobile phone to
the MMI system, the data are exchanged between the car telephone
kit and the mobile phone via the SIM
Access Profile (Car phone) or
the Handsfree Profile (Handsfree).
Please check which profiles are supported by your mobile phone.
- Mobile phone with SIM Access Profile - SIM Access Profile means that the car telephone kit can access the SIM card on a Bluetooth-capable mobile phone via a Bluetooth connection. You can use your mobile phone's SIM card, phone book and telephone functions on the car telephone kit as long as your mobile phone supports these functions. Telephone calls are directed via the external aerial. This reduces the radiation inside the vehicle and improves the quality of the telephone connection. These telephone functions are appended with the text "Mobile phone with SIM Access Profile" in this Operating Manual.
- Mobile phone with Handsfree Profile - Handsfree Profile means that a mobile phone can be connected to the car telephone kit via Bluetooth. The handsfree system on the car telephone kit can then be used to make phone calls. Not all the telephone functions of your car telephone kit will be available; these functions are appended with the text "Mobile phone with Handsfree Profile". The external aerial of the vehicle cannot be used with the Handsfree Profile without a mobile phone adapter*. The handset* cannot be used.
SIM card reader
With the SIM card reader you can use all the functions of the car
telephone kit, independent of a mobile phone. Please refer to
Link
for information on how to set up the system.
Handset* for the car telephone kit
If your vehicle is equipped with a handset*,
you can insert a SIM card in the handset*.
Alternatively, you can bond a mobile phone (with SIM Access Profile)
to the car telephone kit and use the mobile phone's SIM card functions
on the handset*. Please refer to
Link for information on how to set up the system.
Caution!
The car telephone kit and the handset* may
be installed, serviced and repaired only by an Audi workshop or other
qualified workshop.
Note
If you use mobile phones in the vehicle this can generate electromagnetic
fields.
- For this reason, you should always operate mobile phones with an external aerial. This also applies to mobile phones used in Bluetooth mode. The external aerial directs the electromagnetic fields to the exterior, which reduces the field strength in the vehicle interior.
- If retrofitting an external aerial, please ensure that it is installed correctly.
