The vehicle must be raised with the jack* to remove the wheel.
Activate jacking mode* on the infotainment system: Function selector button CAR > control button (Car)* Systems > Servicing & checks > Air susp.: whl. change > on.
Apply the parking brake to stop the vehicle moving accidentally.
Engage first gear (manual gearbox) or move the selector lever to position P (automatic gearbox).
Locate the marking (recess) on the door sill closest to the wheel being changed Fig. 1. The jacking point is located behind the marking on the door sill.
Wind up the jack under the door sill until the cylindrical part of the arm -A- Fig. 2 of the jack is below the plastic socket provided.
Align the jack so that the cylindrical part of the arm -A- fits in the plastic socket provided under the door sill and the movable base plate of the jack -B- is flat on the ground. The base plate -B- must be positioned vertically underneath the jacking point -A-.
Raise the vehicle until the defective wheel is clear of the ground.
The jack may only be applied at the jacking points marked on the door sill Fig. 2. There is one jacking point for each wheel. Do not apply the jack anywhere else Caution!.
An unstable surface under the jack may cause the vehicle to slip off the jack. Always provide a firm base for the jack on the ground. If necessary use a large, strong board or similar support. On a hard, slippery surface (such as tiles) use a rubber mat or similar to prevent the jack from slipping.
WARNING!
- Prevent the base of the jack from slipping – risk of injury.
- Only apply the jack at the correct jacking points and align it. If it is not applied securely, the vehicle may slide off the jack - risk of injury!
- The height of the parked vehicle can change as a result of variations in temperature and loading.
The vehicle must not be lifted up on its sills. Only apply the jack at the jacking points located behind the markings on the door sill; otherwise the vehicle could be damaged.
Note
The jacking mode* is switched off automatically if the vehicle exceeds a speed of 10 km/h.
