Audi A5 Cabriolet   Self-help   Fuses and bulbs  Changing bulbs for headlights
Applies to vehicles: with xenon/halogen headlights
The following instructions describe how to release the left headlight. The procedure for releasing the right headlight is similar.
Pulling forward
Switch off the ignition and the lights.
Open the bonnet.
For easier access to the securing screws and the bulbs, release and unplug the electrical connector.
To release the retaining clips Fig. 1 -arrows- on the trim panel, press on the centre of the clips with a small sharp object. The clips will be released and can then be removed.
Carefully unhook the trim panel at the radiator grille and remove the panel.
Slacken the screws that secure the headlight to the lock carrier and the screws at the underside of the headlight (these screws are located between the cover and the rubber cap and should not be slackened more than ten turns) Fig. 2.
Carefully pull the headlight forward about 45 mm.
Installing
Perform all of the above steps in reverse sequence.
The headlight must be inserted in two guides (on the underside of the headlight). This is the only way to ensure that the headlight is installed in the correct position. To determine whether the headlight is correctly installed, check that it is aligned flush with adjacent body parts (such as the wing panel).
Do not interchange the securing screws.
Caution!
Please take particular care not to damage or scratch the adjacent parts of the body when releasing or installing the headlights.
