The functions can be switched on and off by pressing the rotary controls, buttons or rocker switches. The LED in the corresponding button or rotary control lights up when the function is switched on Fig. 104. The rocker switches are touch-sensitive. Separate settings can be selected for the driver s and front passenger s sides.
The controls in the rear console Fig. 105 can be used to adjust the settings in the rear cabin.
On right-hand drive vehicles* the functions of rocker switches -3- and -5- are interchanged.
OFF Air conditioner
The OFF button is used to switch the air conditioner on and off. The air conditioner will also switch on if you press one of the other buttons or rotary controls. When the air conditioner is switched off, the supply of air from outside the car is cut off.
A/C Cooling mode
The air cooling mode is switched on/off when rocker switch -3- is pressed. When the air cooling is switched off, the air is neither cooled nor dehumidified. The windows may mist up as a result. The air cooling is switched off automatically at low outside temperatures (below zero).
A/C eco Cooling mode*
The eco cooling mode is switched on/off when rocker switch -3- is pressed. The air conditioner runs in a particularly efficient mode when the eco cooling mode is selected.
A/C MAX Cooling mode*
The maximum air cooling mode is switched on/off when rocker switch -3- is pressed. When the air cooling is switched off, the air is neither cooled nor dehumidified. The windows may mist up as a result. The air cooling is switched off automatically at low outside temperatures (below zero). When the air cooling is switched on, the vehicle interior is cooled and dehumidified as quickly as possible.
Air recirculation mode
In air recirculation mode, the air from the interior of the vehicle is filtered and recirculated. This setting prevents fumes etc. from entering the interior. We recommend switching on the air recirculation mode when driving through a tunnel or in traffic queues .
The air recirculation mode is switched on/off with the button. The air recirculation mode can also be switched off by pressing the rotary controls -1- or the button.
AUTO Automatic mode
The automatic mode maintains a constant temperature inside the vehicle. Air temperature, output and distribution are regulated automatically. The automatic mode can be switched on and off by pressing the rotary controls -1-.
Temperature
The temperature can be adjusted between +16 °C (+60 °F) and +28 °C (+84 °F) by turning the rotary controls -1-. Outside this range, LO or HI will appear on the air conditioner display. In the two extreme settings the air conditioner operates continuously with maximum cooling or heating output, and the temperature is not regulated automatically.
The controls in the rear console Fig. 105 are used to regulate the temperature in the rear cabin.
Blower
You can adjust the blower speed manually using the rocker switch -4-. You should leave the blower on at a low setting to prevent the windows from misting up and to ensure that the vehicle interior is constantly ventilated. Press one of the rotary controls -1- for automatic control of the blower speed.
Air distribution
You can use rocker switch -2- to select the air outlets you wish to activate. Press the rocker switches -2- repeatedly until the desired air distribution is displayed on the display of the air conditioner control console. Press one of the rotary controls -1- for automatic control of the air distribution.
OPEN/CLOSE wide air outlet
You can use rocker switch -5- to open/close the wide air outlet in the dashboard.
/ Seat heating/neck heating*
When you press the / button when the engine is running, the seat heating/neck heating is switched on at level 3 (the highest level). The LEDs indicate the temperature level. To reduce the temperature, press the button again. To switch off the seat heating/neck heating, press the corresponding button repeatedly until all the LEDs have gone out.
Seat ventilation*
When you press the button, the seat ventilation is switched on at level 3 (the highest level). The LEDs indicate the temperature level. To reduce the ventilation, press the button again. To switch off the seat ventilation, press the button repeatedly until all the LEDs have gone out.
Seat heating/ventilation*
You can switch either the seat ventilation or the seat heating on/off by pressing the button.
  • Turning the rotary control clockwise will switch the seat heating on at level 1 (the lowest level). The red LED in the button will light up. To increase the temperature, continue turning the control clockwise up to level 3 (maximum level).
  • Turning the rotary control anti-clockwise will switch the seat ventilation on at level -1 (the lowest level). The blue LED in the button will light up. To increase the ventilation, continue turning the control anti-clockwise up to level -3 (maximum level).
Defroster
The windscreen and side windows are defrosted or demisted as quickly as possible. The air output is increased to maximum and most of the air comes out of the outlets below the windscreen. The air recirculation mode is deactivated. The temperature should be set to +22 ℃ or higher. The temperature is regulated automatically.
The defrosting mode is switched on/off when the button is pressed. This function can also be switched off by pressing one of the rotary controls -1-.
(Applies to vehicles with windscreen heating: ) At low outside temperatures, the windscreen heating is switched on automatically. If you want to switch on the windscreen heating manually, press the button; the LED in the button will flash.
REAR Rear window heating
The rear window heating is switched on when the button is pressed. It operates only when the engine is running, and switches off automatically after about 10 to 20 minutes, depending on the outside temperature.
To switch on the rear window heating permanently, press and hold the REAR button for at least three seconds. It will then remain on until the ignition is switched off.
SYNC Synchronisation
Rocker switch -5- is used to select this function. When synchronisation is activated, the settings for the driver s side (with the exception of seat heating/ventilation*) are applied to the front passenger s side and rear cabin. The synchronisation is deactivated and 3-zone appears on the display as soon as the settings are changed on the front passenger s side or in the rear cabin.
SET REAR function
Rocker switch -5- is used to select this function. The SET REAR function allows you to adjust all the settings for the rear cabin via the control console in the front cabin. In this case, the rear air conditioner console is deactivated. This function is deactivated automatically after a certain period or when you close the menu.
Air outlets
The thumbwheels can be used to open and close the air outlets in the centre and on either side of the dashboard and rear centre console. The lever in the centre of the outlets can be used to adjust the direction of air flow. Rocker switch -5- is used to open/close the wide air outlet.
Residual heat
To activate the residual heat function, press and hold rotary control -1- when the ignition is switched off. The system will then heat the interior using the remaining heat in the engine coolant. The residual heat function will be switched off after about 15 minutes.
WARNING
  • For reasons of safety you should not leave the air recirculation switched on for too long. This mode prevents fresh air from entering the vehicle, so the windows can mist over if the air cooling is switched off. Bad visibility can cause an accident.
  • People with limited capacity to feel pain or sense temperature could burn themselves when using the seat heating* or neck heating*. These people must not use the seat heating or neck heating* - risk of injury!
  • If the air outlets in the seat are covered by items of clothing or similar while the neck heating* is on, the air that emerges immediately afterwards can be very hot. This could cause burns to bare skin in the immediate vicinity of the air outlets.
CAUTION
To avoid damaging the heating elements of the seat heating*, please do not kneel on the seat or apply sharp pressure at a single point.
Note
  • The neck heating* automatically switches from level 3 to level 2 after about 6 minutes when the soft top* is closed.
  • The neck heating* output is lower when the soft top* is closed than when it is open.
