Applies to: vehicles with Audi pre sense city
The system draws the driver s attention to hazardous situations. An early warning is given if:
- A vehicle in front brakes suddenly
- Your own vehicle approaches a much slower or stationary vehicle from behind
- A pedestrian is standing in or walking towards your lane.
If this warning is given, you may need to take evasive action or brake hard to avoid a collision. The driver message Audi pre sense Fig. ► and a warning tone draw your attention to the danger.
In the event of an impending collision, an acute warning may also be given in the form of a brake jolt. If you do not respond to the acute warning, pre sense city can, subject to general system limitations, apply the brakes partially or fully in order to slow the vehicle down and take the impact out of a potential collision. In addition, the message Audi pre sense will appear.
In conjunction with pre sense basic/rear, the following functions may be initiated:
- Activation of reversible front seat belt tensioners.
- Automatic closing of windows and sun roof*.
- Inflation of side cushions* on backrest and seat cushion.
Audi drive select*: this function is not available in certain driving modes.
WARNING
- The protection provided by pre sense city is still subject to the prevailing physical limits. It is a driver assist function and cannot prevent a collision in every situation. The driver must always intervene personally. As the driver you are always responsible for braking in good time. Do not let the extra safety provided tempt you into taking any risks when driving – this can cause accidents.
- Due to inherent system limitations, false activation of the system is possible.
- Please note that the camera is not always able to detect all objects which may represent a potential hazard - risk of accident!
- Pre sense city does not react to animals, crossing and oncoming traffic, objects such as poles, fences and railbound vehicles or objects that cannot be clearly recognised ►.
WARNING
The pre sense city functions may be restricted or unavailable in situations such as the following:
- Heavy fog, rain, road spray or snow.
- Impaired visibility, e.g. adverse or changing light conditions or reflections.
- In the dark.
- If the camera window or the vehicle s windscreen is dirty, frosted, damaged or covered.
- When driving on snow, ice or loose surfaces.
- When driving through a corner.
- If the ESC system has been partially or fully deactivated.
- In towing mode.
- If the driver s seat belt is not fastened.
- Up to ten seconds after switching on the ignition.
CAUTION
Impacts or damage to the camera holder on the windscreen can cause misalignment of the sensor. This can impair the function of the pre sense city system. Have the systems checked by a qualified workshop.
Note
- The automatic brake application can be cancelled by pressing the accelerator firmly or by taking evasive action.
- Please note that pre sense city may apply the brakes unexpectedly. Always secure your luggage to prevent damage and possible injury.
- Certain pre sense city functions are deactivated when the ESC is partially or fully deactivated link► and when the downhill assist function* link► is activated.
- The functions of pre sense city will be deactivated if a fault develops in the camera.
