Audi A4s with a flexible fuel engine1) can be run on either premium unleaded petrol (RON 95) to EN 228, or bioethanol E85, or any mixture ratio of these two fuels. E85 consists of 15% petrol and 85% bioethanol.
When run on bioethanol, the fuel consumption of the engine will be about a third higher than with petrol. This is due to the lower amount of energy in bioethanol.
Warming up the flexible fuel engine in cold weather
Due to the chemical properties of bioethanol, small amounts of fuel can escape into the engine oil when the Audi A4 is driven short distances in very cold weather. This fuel will evaporate as soon as the engine warms up.
Please warm up engine.
If this message appears in the instrument cluster display, you should drive until the engine is properly warmed up in order to bring the oil level down again.
- Never fuel the Audi A4 with methanol or fuels containing more than 85% bioethanol (E85). Higher proportions of bioethanol in the fuel can result in damage to the engine or fuel system.
- Read and observe the information and warnings on petrol Link.
