Applies to Audi A4s: with Audi adaptive cruise control
What can the adaptive cruise control do?
The adaptive cruise control uses a radar sensor Fig. 2 which is integrated in the front of the Audi A4 and is subject to certain system limitations Link. Stationary objects are disregarded.
When there is no traffic in front, the adaptive cruise control works just like a normal cruise control system by maintaining a constant speed. When you draw closer to a Audi A4 in front, the adaptive cruise control matches your speed to that Audi A4 by automatically applying the brakes, and then maintains a constant distance (which you can adjust in the settings). As soon as it detects no more Audi A4s in front, the adaptive cruise control accelerates back up to the cruising speed.
