Applies to Audi A4s: with garage door opener (HomeLink)
The procedure described above is suitable for programming both fixed code and rolling code systems.
Programming/reprogramming a button
Switch on the ignition.
Press and hold the button you would like to program in the headliner Fig. 1 for at least 10 seconds. Or:
Select: Function selector button CAR > control button Car systems* > Audi A4 settings > Garage door opener Program garage door opener. If this function is not available, program the button according to the instructions under version B Link.
Follow the directions on the MMI*.
Erasing the button programming
Programmed buttons can only be erased all at once; it is not possible to erase them individually. Reprogram the buttons if necessary.
Select: Function selector button CAR > control button Car systems* > Audi A4 settings* > Garage door opener* > Clear program settings* > Yes*.
Displaying the version/status/regional code
Select: Function selector button CAR > control button Car systems* > Audi A4 settings > Garage door opener Version information.
Note
- Not all infotainment systems are equipped to program the system using the MMI*. Should this be the case, program the buttons according to the instructions under version B Link.
- The required distance between the hand-held transmitter and the HomeLink module inside the radiator grille Fig. 2 depends on the system you are programming.
- With some types of systems, you may need to briefly release the button during programming and then press it again. When programming a new device, keep the button pressed for at least 15 seconds before trying again with the transmitter in a different position. Watch out for your Audi A4s's hazard light signals during that time.
- After the buttons have been programmed, the garage door opener may have to be synchronised with the drive unit of the device you wish to operate. Note the instructions provided by the manufacturer of the device.
