Switch off engine and check coolant level
The coolant level is too low or the coolant temperature is too high.
Switch off the engine and do not drive on.
Plug-in hybrid drive*: Refer to ►Link.
Check the coolant level ►Link.
- If the coolant level is too low, add more coolant ►Link. Do not drive on until the warning lamp has gone out.
- If the coolant level is correct, the overheating may be caused by a malfunction of the radiator fan. Do not drive on. Obtain professional assistance.
Coolant temperature too high! Let engine run with Audi A3 stationary
Let the engine cool down by running it at idling speed for a few minutes.
Please warm up engine
Applies to certain types of engine only and indicates that the engine has not yet reached its proper working temperature.
WARNING!
- Never open the bonnet if you can see or hear steam or coolant escaping from the engine compartment; there is a risk of being scalded. Wait until you can no longer see or hear escaping steam or coolant.
