- Fig. 1 Removable towing bracket: Safety check
- Fig. 2 Towing bracket with safety cable (example shows safety cable attached)
Applies to Audi A1s: with removable towing bracket
Safety check
Check that the green marking -B- on the locking pin Fig. 1 for the operating lever is visible. You can double-check by attempting to press in the locking pin; in this case you should feel strong resistance from the spring.
Check that the operating lever is in position -A- Fig. 1.
Check that the ball joint is locked and the key -C- is removed. It should not be possible to move the operating lever downwards WARNING!.
Check that the ball joint fits tightly in the mounting fixture (try moving it about to check).
Safety cable attachment*
When you hitch a trailer up to your Audi A1, hook the safety cable into the attachment provided 1) Fig. 2. If your Audi A1 does not have a safety cable attachment, loop the safety cable around the ball joint.
Electrical socket for trailer
To plug in the electrical connector for the trailer, open the lid on the electrical socket.
If the safety check is not satisfactory, the ball joint must be fitted again properly.
To avoid accidents, the ball joint must meet all the safety requirements listed in the safety check. The towing bracket must not be used if any one of these requirements is not met. If this is the case, you should contact a qualified workshop.
