The ESP is switched on automatically when the engine is started.
Switching off the ESP
Briefly press the button. The indicator lamp in the instrument cluster will light up. The traction control system (ASR) is now completely deactivated and the ESP intervenes less for stabilisation purposes. This enables a more agile and dynamic driving style, however the full scope of the stabilisation function is no longer available.
Switching on the ESP
Press the button again. The indicator lamp will go out.
WARNING!
You should switch off the ESP only if your driving ability and the traffic conditions allow you to do so safely. Please note that, when the ASR and ESP are switched off, the driven wheels may start to spin, causing the Audi A1 to lose grip, in particular on slippery or wet roads - danger of skidding!
