Applies to Audi A1s: with S tronic gearbox
The driver can select the gears manually in tiptronic mode.
Switching over to the manual programme
From position D, push the selector lever to the right. On Audi A1s without driver information system, the letter D or S will disappear from the display. On Audi A1s with driver information, the display will change to M.
Shifting up a gear
Briefly push the selector lever forwards (in the tiptronic gate) -+- Fig. 1.
Shifting down a gear
Briefly pull the selector lever backwards (in the tiptronic gate) -–-.
The manual programme can be selected either with the Audi A1 stationary or on the move.
When accelerating, the gearbox automatically shifts up into the next gear shortly before the maximum engine speed is reached.
If you select a lower gear, the gearbox will not shift down until there is no risk of overrevving the engine.
When the kick-down feature is used, the gearbox shifts down to a lower gear, depending on the road speed and engine speed.
