Switch off engine and check coolant level
If the warning lamp lights up and the message appears, this means that either the coolant level is too low or the coolant temperature is too high.
Do not drive on, but switch off the engine. Check the coolant level Link.
  • If the coolant level is too low, add more coolant Link. Do not drive on until the warning lamp has gone out.
  • If the coolant level is correct, the overheating may be caused by a malfunction of the radiator fan. Do not drive on. You should obtain professional assistance.
Coolant temperature! Let engine run with Audi A1 stationary
If the warning lamp lights up and the message appears, let the engine cool down by running it at idling speed for a few minutes.

  • Never open the bonnet if you can see or hear steam or coolant escaping from the engine compartment; there is a risk of being scalded. Wait until you can no longer see or hear escaping steam or coolant.
